St.Kuriakose Elias Chavara
Our Patron
St.Kuriakose Elias Chavara, our Patron was a visionary, an innovative lodestar and an enthusiastic educationist with prompt initiatives and strategies. His ingeniousness on human beings and society are originated from a divine vision. St. Chavara had turned to be an effective hub of ecclesial and social activities for more than 30 years in the land of Kerala. He was a community leader with nobility, sanctity, innovative planning, reasonable initiatives, and excellent organization capacity. A clear and specific vision and attitude to the society, creative plan of action to raise human dignity, and constant and practical efforts to illumine human minds are seen in his life and activities. Aiming at educational and cultural growth of the society he started schools, printing press, produced many literary contributions, and given guide lines to the families as well as to the congregations of CMI and CMC which are founded by St. Chavara.
The life of St. Kuriakose Elias Chavara testifies that the divine vision he obtained in contemplation got transferred into a human vision; the one complemented the other.
The concept of universal education of St. Chavara opened a new path; it was an invitation for marginalised to rise to main stream of the society. He was a fore- sighted educator who aspired and worked for excellence. Essentially a man of prayer and intense charity, he stayed in close communion with the Lord, amidst his several religious and social activities, permeating his spirituality to all around him, so much so that he was accepted and referred to as man of God, from his early years.
The present educational perspective of ‘Chavara Hills ’are drawn from the life and undertakings of our patron St.Chavara. Quality and excellence are our major concerns in education today. They are not activities, but are products of environment which is built at all levels, that hinges on robust infrastructure, adequate quality teachers, effectiveness of teaching-learning process and efficient academic governance.
